Face - This was meant to be the first in a series of a wallpapers completely devoid of colour... As of yet I have not produced more than one (hey I like colour too much :p). Produced from scratch in photoshop, although I used a photo of a skull for reference.
Works - This started out as a test for text effects and evolved into this nature based piece. I liked it so much at the time that I decided to base my webdesign on the simple concept of nature and machinery in harmony with each other. I used a rather cutesy-aqua style that became the visual style for the whole site as well.
Strange - The first of two pieces based on stock photos from PDTNC. Great photos to start with, they inspired me to play with them in photoshop until I ended up with this monstrosity, and it's brother Peculiar.
Peculiar - The second, and my favourite, of a pair of pieces based on photos from PDTNC. The photos were of a sheaf of old bills and receipts and struck me as interesting as soon as I saw them.
Shinyamp - My first attempt at a Winamp skin which you can get on the downloads page. I never realised quite how complex skin making can be... it's something I won't be trying again in a hurry.
Eggs - A quickly made wallpaper to help promote the site, people seem to have very varying opinions of it
Monkey - I saw some of Smashmethods renders on Deviantart (see links page) and decided to make a wallpaper... too trendy for my liking but it was done within an evening.
Cabbage - Another wallpaper based on Smashmethods excellent renders (see links page). This is one of those pieces that I couldn't decide how to finish so just released instead... I still feel it could do with a bit more detail.
Deviant Art iD - I made this as an iD for my DA account . This is actually the second time I made it, photoshop crashing the first time and me not having saved for hours.
Horror - I made this using some great stock photos from Resurgere. The tentacles were made in 3D studio max, about the only thing I can make in that program. Other stocks from Stock Exchange. Sorry to those who don't like gore ;>
Confused - I made this to match my slivery windows theme, nice and simple and finished with the Shinybinary green!
State - An experiment in shape and colour, it was a lot of fun to make so this might be the first of a series.
Circus - An ambitious photomanipulation experiment that turned out OK I think. I never realised it would be so difficult to make someone look like they have a painted face in photoshop, but I managed to come up with a few nifty techniques in the end. The original photo can be seen here All stock photos came from the usual suspects and a couple of new ones (on the Links page).
Hazy - An experiment in using 3D renders in an uncommon way. I couldn't decide how to finish it plus the high resolution was really beginning to hurt my pc (this is half the original resolution). Models courtesy of ( Turbo Squid).
Dragon - My first proper release for ( Depthcore), a bit rushed and made out of very simple renders, I dedicated a lot of my time to just tweaking the colour and lighting :} Clouds came from the excellent ( Resurgere) and if you want to see a full size version (this is half) you can ( here). I think a fair bit of detail was lost in rescaling this one.
Summer - A quick piece I did while feeling summery, made out of a couple of photos from: here.
Butterfly - Believe it or not this started off as a photo of a car. A couple of hours of Photoshopping later and it turned into this, it was a lot of fun to make.
Anomaly - This started out from the same photo as Butterfly, and emerged into another 2D abstract. I basically produced this because of my desire to do an abstract with a very strong purple them. Since I did it in one sitting, I have several pictures from throught it's production which I have strung together into this rather uesless, but possibly informative Guide.
Spawn - I had this sitting about unfinished on my pc for a long time before I finally decided to just keep it as a fairly straight forward abstract. I used the same photos for a starting point that I used for Strange and Peculiar (thanks to Pdtnc). Somehow it won daily deviation on Deviant Art) which I am very grateful for.
Simple - A simple experiment, this started off as red and green and I worked on it that way until right at the end I decided the colours needed changing. Due to its complexity, resizing and compression have made more of an impact than usual. However if you are interested you can see a full size version here. Stocks are all listed on the links page
Swarm - The first piece I made for Depthcore pack 13, Infinity. An experiment with Cinema 4D's rendering capabilities, most of the work ended up being done in Photoshop. Stocks from here.
Eternal Hellfire - A collaboration for Depthcore with another DC member, Secroit . He provided the render and gave me the freedom to do what I wanted with it, I opted for a rather traditional 3D piece, not my usual style but still fun to make.
The Endless Path - Another piece for Depthcore and the Infinity Pack. More an experiment in simple vectors and colour than anything else, I couldn't resist adding a bit of texture at the end.
Angel of Death - A collab with Likuid who provided the render for this piece. I was interested in producing an illustrative piece with some abstract elements.
Verve - The first piece I made for Depthcore pack 14, Verve. I had an idea with this pack to do all my pieces along a similar theme. This was the test piece in a way but I think it worked out quite well thanks to a good choice of colours and a funky font.
Funk - This was the follow up piece to Verve, and the similarities in style are obvious. I wanted a slightly more composed picture with a higher level of detail. Although I feel it ended up slightly dry, I think it compliments Verve well.
Pimp - I usually just stick with Photoshop, but for this I started off producing some text in Xara 3D and used Illustrator for some of the details. It's a program I would love to learn fully and will probably practise more in future. Anyway this is probably my favourite from the Depthcore pack.
The Birds - The last piece I made for Depthcore pack 14. I'm glad I finally managed to produce one with more white space, I think heavy colours can distract from the detail.
Vile - The first release for Depthcore pack 15. It started off as an experiment in Illustrator, but after a trip into Photoshop it turned into something quite different. I was thinking about something halfway inbetween oil and fumes, something that seeps.
Dance of the orchid - This uses a new technique I developed in Photoshop for Plunge, and started off with a very simple photo of a car wing mirror. I have used this technique for a few pieces now, and will probably write a tutorial on it at some point.
Plunge - A collaboration for Depthcore with rucish. He provided this render, and although I knew it would be easy to add a bit of lighting and have a fairly nice 3D piece I wanted to try something else. After a lot of fiddling, a new Photoshop technique and a bit of photomanip I got this. Stocks listed on the links page
Chrysalis - Using a photo of a car wing mirror, like in 'Dance of the orchid', I went for a more organic shape this time. I'm pleased with the result, and had a huge amount of difficulty choosing the final colours. A tutorial for this method of Photoshop abstracting will appear at some point :}
Fire - This is an unfinished photomanipulation piece, based on some nice photos from stock exchange and some hi-res scans I did myself. Unfortunately my pc broke before I was able to finish it, and since it has been weeks since I've been able to work on it I have lost interest in the picture. Nice to try something different though.
Alien - This is a collaboration with the extremely talented Nullvoid. He provided this render and I fiddled with it in Photoshop. Due to my pc being unusable I had to make do with another machine with an older version of Photoshop, and none of my custom additions to Photoshop and stock photos.
Turtles - I started off with a render from Nullvoid (the same one as I used for Alien) and just played around in Photoshop. This more experimental style suits my method of working, I might try more in the future (although I don't have much space left for many more 300Mb psd's).
2005 - A promotional wallpaper for 2005. I made it an extra 10% shiny, just for you.
Volcodin - The first of the pieces I made for the Depthcore freestyle pack. .
Bubblenation - The first in the nation series, an attempt at a more spontaneous work process. Here I used a render sent to me by my good friend and fellow DC member rucish.
Grassnation - The second in the nation series, a verdant land of spiralling dreams.
Honeynation - Sticky stuff. I went through more colour changes than I can remember for this one, it was a gorey red, then under-sea green before ending up orange.
Futurenation - An experiment in typo more than anything else, I used an old render of fellow DC member excelsium.
Wildwoods - A quick mess around with some photos on my brand new computer, I was going for a slightly creepy feel but I think it ended up too abstract.
Melt - A rather quick and messy photomanip based on this photo. Damn this summer heat!
Persian moth - Another Photoshop abstract.
Hunter - Another Photoshop abstract.
The peacock tree - Another Photoshop abstract.
Leviathan - Yet another Photoshop abstract.
Only - Experimental piece for Depthcore pack Deluxe 1.
Sick - Experimental piece for Depthcore pack Deluxe 1.
Never - Experimental piece, the spiritual sucessor to 'Only'. 99% Photoshop, 1% Illustrator.
Headache - This is part of the same series as sick, it wasn't meant to turn out as violent as it did. Original size 7000 x 4000.
Only this and nothing more - Pure eye candy, the main shape is one of my first pure Photoshop creations for a while, not even photos.
Keep it together - You ever feel like you're struggling to keep it together?.
Where the wild things are - Another Photoshop abstract, going for a slightly spooky fairytale feel.
Black dog - I worked at very hi-res for this to avoid distortion. Produced for Depthcore pack 'Calibre'.
Icarus - A slightly abstract take on the story of Icarus, this certainly stretched my blending skills. Produced for Depthcore pack 'Calibre'
2006 (Medusa) - A promotional wallpaper for 2006 for those of you who just love me that much ;).
2006 (Neon) - A promotional wallpaper for 2006, but darker for those with sensitive eyes @_@.
Demon - Thinking of something deep underground.
Stranger - My first photomanipulation in a while, I'm quite pleased with the result considering the number of different photos blended together.
Imagine - Always hard to know where to stop with pictures like this.
Type - A4 illustration for Computer Arts Projects. I was asked to follow the style for 'Pimp' which I did, updating and improving it at the same time.
Type tips - Double A4 illustration for Computer Arts Projects..
